ABOUT STAN HENNIGH
Stan Hennigh is a thoughtful, intelligent force in
American art today. In a painting
career of over 33 years, Hennigh has developed a poetic visual sophistication
and excitement that is rarely achieved. He has been honored in exhibitions
curated by the Smithsonian’s Curator of American Art, Joann Moser and the
Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art as well as with one man shows in New York,
Chicago and Colorado.
“His
large canvases of landscapes verge on the abstract, but speak in general terms
of the Western landscape's big sky and extraordinary light. There is a quality
of complete absorption in his work, an incredible juicy sense of color that
pulls the viewer into the composition. The colors seem to vibrate, and it feels
as if one was looking at something vast and pulsating and redemptive.” – Elizabeth
Marglin, Visual Arts Critic, Boulder Daily Camera
“Stan
Hennigh is an artist to respect, watch, and collect over the coming
years.” – Chicago Reader
“Stan Hennigh’s unique
ability to animate unexpected combinations of compositional structure… makes
him one of the most intriguing artists working today. His work has boldness,
power, a lot of subtlety and panache!” James Sanchez, of New York’s,
“Gallery and Studio”, Magazine
Hennigh studied art and art history in Glasgow, Scotland, at
the University of Missouri and at the University of Colorado. Galleries in
Kansas City, Boulder, and Santa Fe represent Hennigh. Hennigh’s studio
is in Boulder, Colorado. His work is featured in a number of noted collections.
